Blue Torch Cactus - 5 seeds
Pilosocereus Azureus is a beautiful cactus endemic of semi-tropical areas of Brazil. The dramatic celeste-blue color of this cactus’ skin is spectacular alone or in the middle of green plants. The wonderful blue color will become even more prominent as the cactus ages, giving them the nickname “Blue Torch”. Pilosocereus Azureus grows beautiful golden spines and soft, downy fur along the ribs. They bloom white flowers, which are pollinated during the night by bats and sphinx moths. They are quite common indoor, outdoor in patios, balconies, or in garden beds. Due to their fast growth, these cacti are excellent choices for grafting slower-growing cacti such as Ariocarpus or mammillaria.
HOW TO GROW?
Pilosocereus Azureus desires full sun with good airflow and warm temperatures. It should be watered biweekly and fertilized during the summer months. Be sure the soil is dry to the touch before you water. Watering should slow down as Fall approaches and cease altogether over the winter. These plants grow very well in desert-like conditions. They desire full sunlight and warm temperatures circa 80 degrees. They grow fast in dry climates. Depending on the environment, this species can vary from a medium-size cacti plant of up to 1 -1/2 feet to a large 12-foot tall plant. It should be protected from frost during the winter months.
